Awareness Connectivity

Keith Mckenzie • September 9, 2024

A meeting was arranged with the key officials in disability awareness and policies in the West Midlands.

The meeting was with Mark Fostbrook, Senior Policy Officer – Health and Disability at the West Midlands Combined Authority.

It was arranged by Anne Shaw, Chief executive of Transport for West Midlands after meeting with her at the Transport Publiceeting several months earlier.

I shared the developments on the I have done with Transport for West Midlands, West Midlands Trains and National Express.

As we have met previously at several disability events, we have updated each other on our developments and matters on general disability topics.

Modified Unity Forward Document
This includes how I have observed how society's attitudes since the pandemic are more challenging and intolerant against all disabilities including neurological. I mentioned a special "Unity Forward" insight document I have written on this matter. The document, originally written in June 2021 also provided suggestions to make sure hidden differences are not a disadvantage. As I followed up on the meeting, I have recreated the document and shared with Mark a copy of a modified version of the "Unity Forward" document.

This document to be available to view and read online soon

Shared Other developments
Other developments which was shared including the two documents linked with the consultation for the Department for Work and Pensions on the proposed changes to the work capability assessment. Also, the Plus Value Awareness online project against bullying and hate crime is called "Zero Toxic".

Keep you posted on further updates and feeds.

The Document "Unity Forward" is now available via the Plus Value Awareness website.
