This page presents a summary document relating to my participation in the public consultation.
This relates to the special call for evidence as part of the Department for Work and Pensions’ review of Personal Independence Payment (PIP). This benefit helps people with disabilities and health conditions to maintain their independent lives.
My approach was developed through insight and analysis gained from over 25 years of awareness and experience within autistic and neurodiversity contexts.
This enables me to provide a broader perspective which, it is hoped, will encourage the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to adopt a more open-minded approach and help discourage misinterpretations and inaccurate judgements.
The consultation was known as the "Timms Review" and as part of my involvement in the consultation, I produced a document responding to the questions provided. In addition, a more detailed version was submitted to the Department for Work and Pensions.
Below is a summary version of the consultation document, which you can view and download. Please note that some answers are not included in this public version for confidentiality reasons.
