I have introduced a new awareness project for my awareness website. It addresses the types of negative stigma that affect neurodivergent people. In addition, the project provides tips and suggestions on how everyone can take responsibility for reducing and preventing negative stigma.

My Approach
The project was developed to present a wide range of information without becoming overwhelming.

Preparation

The initial stage involved writing content covering different aspects of stigma. This included analysing information and articles that have contributed to the negative stigma experienced over the past two years.

The content includes quick anti-stigma tips and guidance on how everyone can change their approach, supported by a family of short guides. These were divided into four sections, including a general guide for everyone, as well as guides for neurodivergent people, responsible individuals, those facing stigma, and those experiencing frustration or emotional distress as a result of stigma.

Creative Developments
The design concept is centred around two key areas. The first is a visual identity incorporating eight irregular circular patterns displayed in different colours. The floating circles represent how stigma can spread and how it may disrupt or harm a person’s wellbeing and self-worth.
The second aspect is a family of pictorial icons presented within circular shapes, with the circle pattern design displayed along the edge of each icon.
The main pictorial icon features an interpretation of a human hand. This symbolises taking action to stop stigma, represented through the floating circle pattern. Other examples include a tick symbol used for anti-stigma tips, an information pictogram for project information, and a family of multi-coloured lightbulbs representing guides designed to help change attitudes towards stigma.

The overall look was kept simple, but not minimalist, with the presentation making use of solid colours such as purple, white and light silver tints, alongside minimal use of the floating circle pattern.

The aim was to create a design that feels simple yet inviting, without unnecessary frills or the appearance of a manuscript.
